British television network ITV is said to have filmed a new Saturday night talent show, entitled “The Next Great Magician”, to be released later in the year.
The series will be made up of six sixty-minute episodes and will be co-produced by Crook Productions and Derren Brown’s own Vaudeville Productions, encouraging magicians from London and around the world to showcase their impressive tricks and compete to be crowned the Next Great Magician. The show could provide an amazing opportunity for magicians who may be unknown in the field to step forward and shine a light on their yet undiscovered talent, as well as inspiring people both young and old all over the country to take up magic as a new hobby. Any magician can appear on the show, regardless of their speciality, and we can expect to see all kinds of magic, from sleight of hand to escapism and everything in between.
The show will be presented by Rochelle Humes and well-known magic-enthusiast Stephen Mulhern and is said to include tricks both in the studio and out on the street amongst an unsuspecting public. The magicians will be able to judge each other’s performances and the highest ranked from each week will proceed to the grand final at the end of the series, with the end prize being his or her very own ITV television special.
Magic being featured on primetime television is always an exciting way to inspire anyone wanting to learn magic to finally take the plunge and get involved. Hopefully, the Next Great Magician will leave magic as the topic on everyone’s mind in the months to come and encourage people of all ages to begin learning tricks and start wowing their friends and family.
